The inaugural Singapore Airlines International Cup (SIA Cup) was held on March 4, 2000, in conjunction with the official opening of the new Singapore Racecourse at Kranji. With a purse of S$3 million up for grabs, the race, unsurprisingly, attracted some of the best horses from the four corners of the globe. Jim And Tonic from France, Sea Wave from the United Arab Emirates, Oriental Express from Hong Kong and Showboat from the United Kingdom, were some of the globetrotters that flew into Singapore to make up the stellar field for the 2000 metre race........more this website

SQ share price up!
Wah after so long finally SIA share has shot up to $11.10 today. I guess that it must be due to the buoyant stock market as well as something else. Of course I won't be disclosing the main reason why it has shot up so much. Sorry it's confidential ...haha

Good of you SIA!
You see what a good employer SIA is. Jaia's son warning letter issued by some lower management staff has been withdrawn by SIA cabin crew top brass.
The lower management staff are the CCEs & AMs....shame on them!
They may try to get the boy sacked if possible. He is a newly trained steward and his only "sin" was to let his parents who were ex CCE and stewardess visit the office (which was close to the graduation auditorium).
If anything should happen to the boy eg get a sacked or probation extended then we will know who has or have victimised him.
We have something up our sleeves and will use it.

SIA is so forgiving
There you are, SIA is a forgiving corporation like no other. The two crew who posted some ugly stuff in their facebook about their passengers got away with their "crime". Though sacked at first they have now been given another new lease of life. Yes they are back to flying and we hope they and all other employees of SIA learn from this episode. Never discuss about work in the social media especially about passengers.
I read too about a ex CCE's son who was given a letter of warning by assistant manager Seth See for allowing his parents to go around STC greetings his ex fellow workers. The boy pleaded for leniency but his plea was thrown into the waste paper basket. Poor boy. But I can assure you if you appeal to the higher cc management, they will exonerate you. It is not a big deal anyway for Seth to issue you that warning letter.
I have tremendous amount of confidence in SIA top people. They are humane and understanding. If only that ex CCE's son appeal to them, everything should be fine.

SIA ,better off if only a few cabin crew senior personnel ...
Yes, SIA would be a better place if some of the senior cabin crew personnel be given the boot. They have done a lot of injustice to the airline.
These people are punitive and petty. They could also be unforgiving and at the same time feel insecure because of their graduate colleagues.
Once SIA rid itself of these counter productive staff, cabin crew division could once again be a better and happier place to work in.

He Loves SIA or Singapore Airlines too
"I ( not only Boh Tong) am in love with Singapore Airlines. I have flown a few times to Asia on Japan Airlines (love them) and Cathay Pacific (will avoid if at all possible). I have read all the great reviews about Singapore Airlines, but I have never been on Singapore Airlines until just recently. If you can bear to read my report without pictures please read on by clicking here."....said a loyal passenger.
SIA to recruit and train intern cabin crew from polys
SINGAPORE - Singapore Airlines (SIA) is working closely with three polytechnics to recruit and train cabin crew, as part of efforts to attract the best talent.
It has special programmes with Nanyang Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic, covering recruitment activities.
It is also starting an internship-recruitment programme to hire and train selected students to become full-time cabin crew.
These are provided under Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) that the carrier signed with the three polytechnics today.
Besides recruitment, the MOUs also cover areas of potential cooperation such as curriculum development in service, operations, safety and security.
SIA will also work with the polytechnics on continued education programmes for cabin crew.
SIA employs about 7,500 cabin crew. New crew undergo an extensive 15-week training programme in areas such as service delivery, customer relations, deportment, security and safety. CHANNEL NEWSASIA

SIA parting with Virgin Atlantic
SIA has a buyer (Delta Airlines) for its 49% stake in Virgin Atlantic. The sale of S$440 million is a third of the sum SIA paid for in the year 2000. Nevertheless, SIA is richer by 440 million because the original sum was written off as a loss years ago.
Shareholders of SIA should be happy because the 440 million will be factored in this year's profit.
So happy SIA is getting rid of its stake in VS.
Thank you SIA, you are very clever indeed.
